Why are we interested in the SME segment?

SME in India

The rapidly growing SME sector in India has created tremendous opportunities for recruitment and HR service firms today. Finding the right employee at the right cost and also ensuring growth opportunity for the employees can sometimes be challenging for the company management and this is where we come into the picture. We take over the recruitment department’s responsibility or sometimes work in tandem with them to give the company the right set of employees.

I am particularly excited to meet the growing needs of the SME segment in India. After having executed start up assignments successfully, I am able to empathize well with my SME clients. We are able to source the right candidates at the right cost ! Rambuna Consultants’ satisfied clientele list is having ample mix of small and medium enterprises (SME) as well as big size corporations. I am currently in discussion/ negotiation with several companies in the SME segment – to expand as well as set up new branches/ offices for them across India within the telecommunications and Office Automation industry. I know we can consider only those candidates who are bright but it is necessary that they stay put in the organization for a reasonably long period and add value. Hence, it becomes necessary to hire the right candidates because their performance is directly linked to growth of the SME company. In the SME segment, there is no room for a long gestation period to get performing on the task. Oh ! but the salary constraints in SME segment are stalling as well as multiplying our efforts to recruit the right fit. Such are the challenges in recruiting for SME segment.

So then, Why are we interested in the SME segment? Firstly, it is emotionally satisfying to me if I can help others to get best results for themselves. You could call the feeling as ‘helper’s high’ or whatever appropriate. We do not recruit with the sole objective of increasing revenue or sales turnover for the company. I take up recruitment tasks to build long term relationships and most of my clients become my friends in business. We become an extended arm to our clients in their growth path. There is an informal understanding between my client and myself; though deliverable is never compromised on either side. SME segment enables me or gives an opportunity to actualize my aspirations. And there is a lot we can do in this segment. With more than two decades of experience in sales & marketing in India & abroad – I can really turn around business situations in favor of my client. Yes, I do consider myself responsible to help the SME segment.

Larger corporations come to us for meeting their requirements in new business growth. Rambuna Consultants is serving a good number of MNC clients that are either expanding or adding new business streams. New divisions or new business activities in larger corporations are mostly start ups. Starting from screening for potential candidates (through advanced ATS software in our database), building a pipeline of prospects, shortlisting suitable candidates for preliminary HR check round – we take our client into confidence and they can actually see what we are doing for them. Currently I am quite occupied recruiting for a Japanese MNC Major in Consumer Electronics, to find candidates in mofussil/ rural towns in Maharashtra State to boost their sales. Meeting stringent standards of our clients make it all the more challenging. But, we are able to do it well. We deliver !

SME segment requires ‘professional’ recruitment assistance to sustain as well to grow their businesses and we can provide that assistance. They need ‘value addition’ for the money spent by them on outsourcing recruitment. Yes, we are meeting this need. They need experienced, smart, loyal, hardworking, emotionally stable employees who love their jobs. Again, we are recruiting such candidates for them. No wonder, we are interested in the SME segment since we are succeeding well in recruiting for them.
